Before & After School - Overview
YMCA of Greater Miami is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable child care to fit the needs of working parents. Many after school sites are conveniently located on school premises so parents have no need to worry about transporting students to a different location. Our highly trained staff interacts with children while incorporating the YMCA’s 4 core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility to everyday fun and games. In more than 60 schools across Miami-Dade County, the Y offers numerous opportunities for children to express their talents in the arts, sports and other areas of interest. Kids find out what success is all about in an approach that says everybody plays, everybody wins. Time is set aside for tackling homework, with adult help available and there is always a healthy snack provided.
A Commitment to Children’s Safety and Protection
At the YMCA of Greater Miami you can rest assured your child’s safety is our main concern. YMCA staff are all background checked and fingerprinted. Once approved, each staff member undergoes our very own YMCA training.
Please see your YMCA onsite representative or call 305-357-6622 for fees and additional information
Payments are accepted monthly in the form of a check, money order, credit card or bank draft. In order to keep our staff and children safe, cash will not be accepted. Registration is open throughout the year just by stopping by the YMCA afterschool location of your choice between the hours of 2:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please see the list of schools available on this website. If you do not see your child’s school listed you may want to request a Y afterschool program to your principal. YMCA child care is open to all, with financial assistance available. CDS accepted at most locations.
The YMCA of Greater Miami is proud to offer financial assistance to families and children in need. This financial assistance comes from private individuals, and community organizations. Since the amount of requests for financial assistance far exceeds the amount available, funds are limited. It is our intention to turn no one away due to inability to pay. Therefore, we offer assistance based on a sliding scale. In order for a financial assistance application to be processed, all required documents must be included (3 recent pay check stubs). Completed financial assistance applications can be returned to the YMCA of Greater Miami Children's Services office (730 NW 107th Ave, Suite 200, Miami, FL 33172), as well as any of our Afterschool sites between the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Applications take 5-10 days to be processed and notification will come in the form of a phone call and/or mailed approval letter.
